How to Clear Browser Cache (Chrome, Firefox, Edge & Safari)

Overview

Clearing your browser cache helps solve issues where websites do not load or display correctly. It also ensures you see the newest version of a website instead of outdated, locally stored files.

Google Chrome (PC / Mac / Android)

Shortcut

  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + Delete

  • Mac: Cmd + Shift + Delete

Via menu

  1. Click the three dots (menu) in the top right.

  2. Select More toolsClear browsing data.

  3. Choose a time range.

  4. Check Cached images and files.

  5. Click Clear data.

Mozilla Firefox

Shortcut

  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + Delete

  • Mac: Cmd + Shift + Delete

Via menu

  1. Click the menu (three lines).

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Select Privacy & Security.

  4. Under Cookies and Site Data, click Clear Data.

  5. Make sure only Cached Web Content is selected.

  6. Click Clear.

Microsoft Edge

Shortcut

  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + Delete

  1. Click the three dots (menu).

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Select Privacy, search, and services.

  4. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.

  5. Select a time range.

  6. Check Cached images and files.

  7. Click Clear now.

Safari (Mac)

Enable Developer Menu (one-time setup)

  1. Open Safari.

  2. Go to SettingsAdvanced.

  3. Enable Show Develop menu in menu bar.

Clear cache

  1. Click Develop in the menu bar.

  2. Select Empty Caches.
